Services at The Village are evolving!

The Village Family Centre is a Social Enterprise with a mission to promote quality of life, health and wellbeing for parents, caregivers and children. 

The Village Family Centre offers evidence-based supports that are;

• Neurodiversity-affirming 
• Developmentally-informed 
• Trauma-sensitive
• Sensory-informed

The upstream model of care at The Village Family Centre is a proactive approach which prioritises support, education and capacity building of parents, carers and teachers in order to meet the needs of their children.  

The Village Family Centre has continued to evolve since 2022 and offers a variety of Occupational Therapy services in the community and via online services. 

• Individual parent / caregiver support 
• Capacity building for caregivers to develop new, and enhance existing knowledge and skills related to caring for children 
• With clear distinctions between services roles and therapy goals, I work collaboratively with other therapists to provide parent/ caregiver support and family-centred care in addition to child-centred paediatric therapy provided by external services. 
• Group caregiver support and information sessions
• Information and support for early childhood educators, care providers and teachers in schools, daycares and other organisations

My name is Kaitlin, but most people call me Kaitie. I'm an occupational therapist, a mum, a wife, a Cairns local and a lover of the outdoors.

I created The Village Family Centre in 2022 to support wellbeing and quality of life across generations and throughout communities.
