My name is Kaitlin, but most people call me Kaitie. I am an Occupational Therapist, a Mum to two boys, a Wife, a Cairns local and a lover of the outdoors.
Having experienced challenges during my pregnancies and a difficult start to parenthood, I'm all-too-familiar with how hard things can be as a parent.
I know what it’s like to be without your village for support and to feel alone and isolated. I understand the nothingness of postnatal depression and the intrusiveness of chronic anxiety. I understand what it’s like to be unable to do everyday things or even walk due to pelvic instability during and after pregnancy. I understand what it’s like to reach a point of total depletion from relentless sleep deprivation and trying to meet the needs of a challenging baby.
I am happy to say that you can recover from these things or learn to live without being limited by them. I know, because I have. Being a parent is hard, there are still moments and days where I struggle. I think we all do. There is a reason for the anecdote about it taking a village to raise a child, because it does. Not just for the healthy development of a child, but for the health and wellbeing of parents, families and communities.
I created The Village Family Centre in 2022 to be part of the solution in promoting healthy families for generations.
